Sweeney Todd: On the Razor’s Edge  Adapted by Michael Bigelow Dixon and Jon Jory        A Dark Comedy

November 6-8, 12-15, 2020

Sweeney Todd is a fictional character who first appeared as the villain of the Victorian penny dreadful serial The String of Pearls (1846–47). The original tale became a staple of Victorian melodrama and London urban legend possibly based on dubious pie-fillings. A barber from Fleet Street, Todd murders his customers and turns their bodies over to Mrs. Lovett, his partner in crime, who bakes their flesh into meat pies. Todd has since been the focus of British-American media like films, plays, and novels.

The Diary of Anne Frank   By Frances Goodrich & Albert Hackett        Drama

January 29-31, February 4-7, 2021

The Diary of a Young Girl, also known as The Diary of Anne Frank, is a book of the writings from the Dutch language diary kept by Anne Frank during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. The play is of the time the Frank family was in hiding for two years in the sealed-off upper rooms of the annex at the back of Otto's company building in Amsterdam. They were later joined by Otto's business partner, Hermann van Pels and his family. In August 1944, they were discovered and deported to Nazi concentration camps. The diary was retrieved by Miep Gies, who gave it to Anne's father, Otto Frank, the family's only known survivor, just after the war was over. The diary has since been published in more than 60 languages.
