As Canada moves into an new era, so does theatre at Georgetown Little Theatre Productions Inc. Last season we presented an all Canadian playwright season. We are doing the same this season introducing a play written by one of our members, a resident of Georgetown. We are proud to present the Canadian premier of “Boxed In” by Michael Halsall. The play is directed by Mary Rose who also directed the heart warming “Kiss the Moon, Kiss the Sun” in April 2017.
In keeping with Canada 150 celebrations, our first show, “Hilda’s Yard” by Norm Foster and directed by new comer to GLT, Geoff Ford, takes us back to the 50’s where family life was supposed to be simpler but some things never change. What is a theatre season without a bit of mystery? “Casting for Murder” by Elizabeth Elwood from B.C., is not your regular whodunit play. You will have to see the play to discover the mystery. This play is directed by yours truly.
This season our Youth Company will be celebrating its 15th Anniversary. What started out as a dream of two people, has grown in membership and productions. We are pleased to have alumni members returning to GLT and participating on various committees and projects. Besides the Youth One Act Festival in November, their spring production will be “Dark of the Moon” by Howard Richardson and William Berney, directed by Jill Pike and Taylor Grist.
In keeping with Canadian premier’s, this September The Studios Shows will present a newly written play, “A Family Affair” by two members, Taylor Grist and Frank Willis. This family show centers around a game show. The play will be presented at our Studio and at the Acton Town Hall Centre.
We hope you will come out to all or one of the shows presented by Georgetown Little Theatre Productions. We welcome new members, its not all about being on stage; it takes a group of people to put together a full show. If you want to find out more about the group, please email us at www.georgetownlittletheatre.ca.
